This week we looked at Psalm 16. If you are following along, please read the whole chapter.
Verse 1: How can we take refuge in God? How will He keep up safe?
v 2. Apart from God - we have no good thing. Name good things from God in your life... What about things you earn or work hard to get? Hint: God is in control of your life.
v3. Saints = believers. Do we lift in prayer and encourage fellow believers? or are we jealous and petty? Don't you just love to hang around a cantagious christian?
v4. Our sorrows increase when we run after other gods. Make this personal-what in your life conflicts with your walking with God or pulls you away from having quiet time or just walking joyfully trusting Him?
v5. The Lord has planned our lives and what He wants for us. Do you believe that? Accept that? Want to change it or are you content with where He has you? Accept the life He has given you, means seeing His hand on your day and cooperating (bringing Him glory) even in the little everyday things we do.
He has made our lot secure. What is our lot? Eternal life? Your life and the work He has given you? We are called to live lives that glorify Him and avaoid what doesn't. We are to love and encourage those He puts into our lives: our families, jobs, conditions.
v6. Boundary lines? What are these? Do you resent or struggle to live with God's boundaries. Can you feel a sense of love, protcetion and/or security by living within the boundaries or parameters of your life? Are you always wanting more or different?
v7. Are you feeling thankful for His direction in your life. Tell Him.
v8. Think about always keeping the Lord in the front of your heart and not being shaken-What shakes this up for you?
v 9 and 10. Praise
v11. Fill me with Your Joy!
Look at these verses and see what God is showing you. Search your heart and see where you lack peace and why. Confess and give it to Him. Lean on Him. Call on Him. Praise Him.
Please send me feedback of these verses. It is always good to share how scripture speaks to each of us.
Next week we will look at Psalm 37
In His Joy.
